About the Reiki Practitioner
Joyce Valencia is a certified Level II Reiki Practitioner trained in the Tibetan Usui lineage since 2008. She is also certified as an Okuden Reiki Practitioner in the Jikiden Reiki lineage since 2023. Joyce utilizes chakra psychic readings and spirit guides as adjunct to her treatments. She is also an Endocrine Nurse Practitioner, psychic and certified Angel Practitioner.
During her years of practice, Joyce has provided service to patients with acute medical conditions in a Planetree designated hospital. She currently practices in San Jose, CA.
Occasionally, Joyce Valencia guest speaks on the history and background of Reiki, the clinical significance of Reiki in the healthcare industry and its efficacy from a scientific standpoint.

Why does lineage matter?
Reiki was initially intended in Japan to serve as an adjunct to Western conventional medicine. Given its history, it had to evolve accordingly to match the dominant culture and its time in order for Reiki to become widespread across the world. Thus, Reiki has developed into a modality of energy healing geared towards the metaphysical and spiritualist movement outside of Japan! There are many different styles of Reiki that now exist.
The style of Reiki your practitioner utilizes makes a difference in your quality of service. Some lineages of Reiki focus on physical medical diagnoses; others focus on chakras and utilize angels as spirit guides. Asking the lineage of your Reiki Practitioner also helps you to vet their certification, knowledge and experience.
JIKIDEN REIKI: Try An Extremely Rare Style of Reiki
The Japanese word jikiden means "directly taught" as it was passed down from Mikao Usui sensei - the founder of Shin Shin Kaizen Usui Reiki Ryoho. This is the original Japanese style of Reiki from the 1920s! This style of Reiki was once kept hidden behind doors during the aftermath of World War II, only to be practiced secretly within households. Less than 1% of Reiki practitioners existing outside of Japan actively practice this extremely rare and historical type of Reiki - the traditional way in which it was meant to be practiced!
Jikiden Reiki serves as an adjunct to Western modern medicine. Reiki practitioners of this style address physical and metabolic diagnoses as well as mental & emotional concerns. It is a calming and quiet style of Reiki where gentle hand placements administer Reiki in intuitive areas where toxins accumulate. Multiple sessions are required to achieve a positive effect.

TIBETAN USUI REIKI: Try A Spiritual and Psychic Experience
Tibetan Usui Reiki is a Western style of Reiki developed by William Lee Rand. This style of Reiki utilizes additional features that address personal and spiritual development by evaluating the 7 major chakras aligned along the spine. Spiritual messages may be imparted by your guardian angels or the archangels who assist your Reiki practitioner throughout the session.
In this style of Reiki, the Reiki practitioner's hands hover a few inches above the body with very little physical contact. There is active counseling throughout the session as the practitioner performs an energy reading tailored for you.
