Before you know it, the new year wrangles in the old to bring in the new. In the interim, it didn't take long for someone to remind me to finish my vision board for 2025. I responded unmoved, but respectful.

I don't plan on creating a vision board. I never made one before, and it's unlikely I will make one in the future.

The energetic qualities of a vision board prepares one's aura for the movement of energy into a more tangible form in the near future. They are heartfelt with attempts to focus on forwarding the momentum. However, I have mostly resolved to leaving them to other individuals and their charmed vestiges of wishful thinking and dreams.

There's a better way, a more strategic and practical way. Before new years, I have already created the requisite neural synapses to mentally & physically prime myself for this new reality. I don't wait for that luminous New York ball to drop and for the fireworks to light up the star lit sky. I have even prepared myself for the elusive achievements that may seemingly come out of nowhere - miracles, if you will - such as finding a good place to rent or meeting just the right person on my path. I have mentally imprinted these expectations, and left myself open for what the universe has to offer.

I ask the universe with my energy, and the universe provides.

As sentient beings, we are amazing manifesters. (We are also amazing counter-manifesters!) You know, energy goes where energy flows kind of deal. But this saying by Tony Robbins, as obnoxiously prevalent as it is, speaks a truth that most human beings cannot readily fathom.

Did you know that, of all people who aspire to become published authors, less than 1% of the population actually publish a book?

When it felt like the time was right to publish my first ever book, I told my partner, "I'm going to write a book."

To which he replied, "Do it."

"Yeah, I think I will," I responded.

Whenever small chat got around to me, I would introduce myself as, "Hi, I'm Joyce Valencia. I'm the author to the upcoming title, Play Large At Life: How to Turn Your Failure Into Success!"

Everyone reacted by exclaiming, "WOW!"

Suddenly the room lit up with color for me! People inherently understood that authoring a book takes a lot of energy. They took an interest in the ideas I had bubbling to the surface. It's not every day that you come across someone who is willing to take on the daunting task of publishing a book. I have also been the subsequent inspiration for several other people who wish to write a book. Something I did not know would happen!

Now, having launched Play Large at Life in February 2024, I can now introduce myself as, "Hi, I'm Joyce Valencia. Nurse Practitioner and award-winning author!"

How did I do it?

What set me apart from the ~99% of wishful thinkers?

Many people start, but never complete their manuscripts due to fear of failure. The second reason why they never finish is due to lack of drive. Third, is discipline. First of all, it would be a travesty to fail on writing a book about playing large at life and turning your failure into success. My ego wouldn't allow it! Indeed, I have utilized this technique many times in my life.

I set time aside to write the book with an accountability writing partner, and promised myself the discipline of putting in the time. I also made it a habit to throw away the self-doubt in a figurative trashcan. I made fear and perfectionism my friendly companions but not my cousins. I allowed to hear what fear and perfectionism had to say, but I only took their perceptions into consideration. And then I moved on.

Perhaps the greatest pearl of wisdom I can impart to others aspiring to achieve any kind of major milestone is to understand your commitment to excellence. To me, this is an ethical topic. If you say you are going to do it, you better be sure to do it - not for others, but for yourself. Our vocal chords generate a vibration that forms words and sounds, which radiates a certain frequency of energy. You are impacting others in negative, positive and neutral ways with your word choice, tone of voice, volume, inflections, and body language. Here's the thing, your self-talk is impacting you, too. So, the energy you put out must align with your being, and I would generally not recommend saying that you'll do things unless you truly intend on doing it.

The energy I now put out into the universe is the new imprint to which I condition my mindset. When I say I'm going to do it, the integrity I demonstrate puts me on a trajectory slated for success. I begin to radiate with the enthusiasm and work ethic needed to bolster my new reality. In fact, I assume that reality as my own in the present time. I start to feel it in my bones that I already am that award-winning author. Can you imagine that? I have so thoroughly convinced myself that I am this reality, that I adopt a laser focused attention. Writing a full-length book was no longer an uphill battle. This is the Law of Assumption.

In fact, I also promised myself that I would put in the time to start my online business. I did that, too! Knowing I required help, I sought out the assistance of a business coach. I had already begun to pursue my collective mission: to raise the consciousness of humanity and to create impact.

I assumed my reality, and put stock into my energy rather than crafting a vision board. There was no fear of the unknown because I inherently understand that I am protected by my guardian angels and led by God. Whatever I wanted, I did not put it on a pedestal. I looked it square in the eyes, and took it for myself. Vision boards help with this, but I find that it's not necessary and is a passive approach to making your dreams a reality. To each his own! It is way more eco-friendly to get in the habit of working with your own energy.

For this coming 2025, I wish for you to have the energy to make your dreams a tangible reality. Envision it and take it for yourself with a fiery ambition that no one can shake! And if you need assistance, consider one of my coaching programs!
